A tale of two cities (and two tweets)
The NBA finals are happening right now between the OKC Thunders and Indiana Pacers. Games are tight, every shot counts and creating a few more good opportunities to score can be the difference between winning or losing.
bowser2bowser called last year that OKC wasn’t playing good ISO (creating 1 to 1 opportunities without much intervention of the rest), while Dallas was doing it really well for Luka (old times, I know).
Last year, I hated OKC's "bad iso process," which was much worse than Dallas's
But this year has been very different — partly because OKC copied Dallas
Dallas always put Kyrie next to Luka, so any help left Kyrie open
OKC now does the same with JDub, whose gravity ➡️ corner 3

He basically said that while doing ISO for a top scorer, it’s good to put another top scorer close so the defense has to decide if helping or not, or getting the whole defense tighter giving more space to the rest of the attackers not involved in ISO.
What’s doing OKC now?
CrumpledJumper is putting together a few visuals to understand quickly and not only through whole clips, the effect of putting together Shai and Jalen Williams. It’s quite clear when the second scorer is left open because of his defender helping and when the whole defense collapses and the rest of the team can create backdoor opportunities or wide open shots.
Do you think this is worth be doing for another team? How is your team running isolations? They might be leaving money on the table!
