2025 Big Data Bowl presentations are available

This year’s competition set a Big Data Bowl competition record for participants – we are grateful and appreciative of all the folks who took time to analyze pre-snap tendencies!

The 2025 Big Data Bowl will culminate with an in-person event at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis on February 26th. Each of the finalists will be competing for an additional $12,500 in prize money, and the competition will feature a keynote discussion from Dr. Eric Tulsky, General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes.

Every year I make a mention to the NFL Big Data Bowl because it is probable THE place with the most straightforward path to get a job in sports analytics. You are able to work with real world class data (tracking data!, super hard to get in any other place) and there is a lot of freedom in what and how you want to work. In the end, you showcase your work to thousands of people, you compete for money prizes and the networking is outstanding because the people around the competition, the judges and the community in general is super aware of the results.

I think it’s quite guaranteed for finalists to land a job if they want to but also semifinalists and other in general nice presentations have a lot of eyes on.

Of course, it’s too late this year but you can check the data and notebooks, get inspiration to do some work outside of the competition and be ready for the next one!

Here is the list to finalists, semifinalists and honorable mention. Every one has the link to the kaggle Notebook with the presentation. Lots of great work, lot’s of insights!

BaseballCV is live!

A hub for open source computer vision analysis focused on baseball.

What is BaseballCV?

BaseballCV is a collection of tools and models designed to aid in the use of Computer Vision in baseball. It provides access to high-quality datasets and computer vision models, making it easier for developers and analysts to create tools that analyze baseball games.

The site itself speaks much better than I could but it’s for sure a great resource to learn and apply Computer Vision applied to sports.

Don’t miss Anything

I’ve been reported that some people get the newsletter to Spam or Promotions tab.  If that happens (now or in the future) for you, you will miss any new job, update and content.

To avoid this you can:

  • Reply to this email with “hi” (or any other comment)or

  • Mark the email as safe or move the email from promotions to the inbox tab

Both should work to get all the future newsletter in your inbox as expected
